Assistant Head of Department - Multi Skills & Trowel Trades
Cambridge / Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Full time - 37 hours per week
?46,407 per annum

The Protocol Group are working with a client seeking an inspiring and forward‑thinking Assistant Head of Department to support the leadership of our Multi‑Skills & Trowel Trades provision across both Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator and emerging leader to play a key role in shaping the future of construction education, developing staff, and driving exceptional student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Department in managing curriculum delivery, staffing, and resources
  • Lead on maintaining high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Monitor and track performance to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Coach, mentor, and inspire staff to continuously improve their practice
  • Motivate students to achieve their full potential
  • Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and industry standards

Requirements:

  • Extensive teaching experience within the Further Education (FE) sector
  • Strong knowledge of construction trades, particularly in multi-skills or brickwork (desirable but not essential)
  • A clear understanding of FE frameworks, quality assurance, and curriculum delivery
  • Up-to-date Health & Safety knowledge relevant to construction environments
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • A recognised teaching qualification (DET, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
